Proposal Updates (Abbey)

• New Proposal: Radicle Ecosystem Growth Fund
  • This proposal aims to fund projects for engagement and adoption for growth. It will further decentralize the coordination and funding of core teams through the treasury, representing yet another step forward in Radicle’s transition to a DAO. The multi-sig committee would be made of a variety of Radicle folks, community members and ecosystem partners. Stress test social process for a DAO on how to manage a sub-DAO. This proposal will be moving to Formal Review within the next few days!
• Revived Proposal: Remove name registration fee
  • This proposal was put on pause back in December 2021 and is now being revamped to coincide with the ENS name registration CLI release from the alt-client working group! The proposal aims to remove the name registration fee (currently 10 RAD) from Radicle for a more efficient on-boarding for orgs. The original proposal made it to the formal review stage of governance but failed to reach the required participation threshold in the Snapshot poll needed to move forward. Abbey and Alexis will be updating the proposal with the code and more context and reposting the formal review. You can expect a Snapshot poll for the proposal within the next few days.

Radicle Grants Updates (Abbey)

• The RGP funded it’s first grant! A retroactive grant for a community member past contribution of making it possible to add/edit ENS names for orgs on Upstream.
• New RFPs: Make Drips/Communities embeddable on any site as a login gate, Radicle Discover & Analytics
• More applications for free-form grants can be found under the Grants section on Discord!

Delegation (Shelby)

This last month the Governance WG announced a new “active delegate” platform and announcement process for this platform. The platform is meant to give motivated community members the opportunity to take more leadership in the governance process by announcing themselves as Active Delegates. In doing this, they are sending an “application” to the community and RAD holders to be delegated to in voting rounds. This platform also makes it easier for RAD holders to easily find folks to delegate to if they do not want to/are unable to delegate to themselves and participate in governance directly. Shelby runs through the application process and responsibilities of active delegates, and gives an open call to active community members to announce themselves!

Question from audience: “Is there a deadline to announce?”

Answer: No deadline! The platform will remain open and people can announce (and un-announce) themselves when they like.

Ecosystem Speaker

Dennison from Tally gave us a rundown of Tally’s gas refunder. It acts as a trust-less on-chain gas refunder that can refund up to 99% of gas fees spent on governance voting. It has the ability to apply custom parameters such as max refund amounts, pre-quorum only refunding, and validation functions (NFTs, certain amount delegated to wallet) to be refunded. Yes, we were also drooling at this point too!

This refunder is not yet used in production anywhere as it still needs to be audited. More to come out of this project after ETH Denver commences. Listen in for the rest of the discussion and more details to the project!
